Lightweight porous volcanic stone with a distinctive dark black-grey colour and open-pore surface. Known internationally as "Bali lava stone" — widely used in resort and hospitality projects across Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Middle East for its authentic tropical character. Works equally well indoors and in sheltered outdoor applications.

Consider carefully
Open pores absorb water and are slow to dry — in continuously wet areas such as shower walls, the stone is prone to mould and premature ageing. Sealing/coating is required if used in bathrooms.

Premium quartzite from Sukabumi, West Java — one of Indonesia's most internationally recognised natural stone exports. The standard material for hotel and villa pools from Bali to Dubai. Its unique teal-green colour deepens underwater, creating a signature turquoise effect that synthetic tiles cannot replicate. Non-slip even when wet, and naturally resistant to pool chemicals.

Note
Flexible across nearly all applications. Relatively higher price point compared to other natural stones — most cost-effective when used where the natural teal colour is a design feature, such as pools or wet walls.

Dark grey dense volcanic stone with a naturally textured surface and exceptional hardness. One of the most durable natural stones available — highly resistant to tropical weather, UV exposure, and mechanical wear. Widely used in exterior facades, landscape walls, driveways, and poolside edging. Also popular for Japanese-minimalist and industrial interior aesthetics.

Consider carefully
The deep dark grey absorbs light — in narrow or poorly lit spaces the stone can make the room feel heavier and darker.

Soft white-cream limestone quarried from Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. Its warm natural tone and workable composition make it easy to carve — widely used for decorative relief panels, ornamental wall elements, and architectural details in classical Javanese and tropical contemporary styles. The creamy colour brings warmth to interior accent walls and covered terraces without overpowering a space.

Limestone is porous and prone to mould in continuously wet or humid areas. Sealing helps but requires periodic renewal and does not fully prevent long-term moisture absorption.

Fine-grained sandstone from Palimanan, Cirebon, West Java — warm cream-yellow tones that integrate naturally with tropical and Mediterranean-style facades. A competitive-priced option for exterior walls, garden boundaries, columns, and landscape features. Lighter than andesit and easier to cut, making installation faster without sacrificing natural character.

Sandstone is porous and prone to mould in continuously wet environments. Sealing helps slow this down but long-term maintenance costs can be significant if installed in the wrong location.

Note
Custom mosaic designs require a minimum 10 m² order. Share a reference image or design brief and we'll advise on material composition and lead time. Grout lines between stones can be prone to mould if exposed to continuous rain — use in sheltered locations for outdoor applications.
